Sudden Death Defeat for T-Men

Sunday The Caostal Windows/Bedrock Timbermen were visiting the hallowed shrine of lacrosse; Queens Park Arena to play the Salmonbellies.

The T-men were a bit slow to get off the bus and even had a couple lose their high priced ferry breakfasts before the game. But alas, the game did go on and you could tell it was going to be a seesaw game with both teams trading chances and goals and the 'Bellies capitalized on a power play advantage to make the period score 3-2 for the home side.

The second was the same as the first; both teams would not give an inch and the score sheet proved it. The second ended 2-2 giving the 'Bellies a one goal lead heading into the third.

The T-Men started to take the momentum away from the home side and got a 4-3 period lead to tie the game. By all accounts from the spectators it was a very exciting game to watch. The game final horn blew and the teams were heading into sudden death overtime. The end came about 2 1/2 minutes into the fourth period and gave the 'Bellies a hard fought win.

Peter Dubenski gave a masterful performance in goal making 43 saves, many of the sensational variety. Capt. Cory Koesdibyo has a great game on the scoresheet and on loose balls as he scored a hatrick and a helper. Devon Casey had 2 and 1, Mac Johnston had a pair of singles as well did Corey Shires and Karver Everson. The Defense was solid all game long with strong performances by Alex McDougall, Adam Norman, Tyson "T-Roe" Roe, and "Bad to the Bone" Backstrom to name a few.
Good effort boys, Bruce

Timbermen Victorious

Saturday saw the Coastal Windows/Bedrock Timbermen return to action at the arena on Third St. after nearly 3 weeks away. Their opponent were the Langley Thunder and they have been suffering some loses of late both on and off the floor so they were ripe for a good tilt. The first was a bit shaky for the home team giving up 2 unanswered goals to start the game before storming back to win the period 4-2. Riley Mangelson made some outstanding saves to keep the T-Men in it 'til they got their heads into it.

The second period saw "the men in black" get into the game and the locals saw their lead erased and the it ended up 7-7 going into the third. A coaching change for the Timbermen seemed to spur them on in the third.

With coach Dougan's pep talk the men came out and started to out work the Thunder. The transition game came to life and they won the period 6-4 to make the final 12-10.
Top point getters for the T-Men; Andrew Miller 3 goals one assist and dominated in the face-off circle, Mac Johnston had 2 and 3, Mitch Parker had 4 and 1, Corey Shires was high man with 6 apples. We were without the services of our leading goal scorer Devon Casey away at his sisters wedding.

Congraats to the T-Men family!

Bog Soup; Just What the Doctor Ordered

Good Things Turn Better
The Coastal Windows / Bedrock Timbermen took to the road Sunday for a game in Burnaby against the bottom marker Lakers. It was good to see a team below us in the standing for a change after a 2 game swoon which saw us lose to New West and Victoria, so a visit to Burnaby was just what the doctor ordered.

After finding their legs after a 4-1 first period that had 4 different scorers; Mac Johnston, Mitch Parker, Ryan Nicks, and Karver Everson, they went in had their jelly-beans and took control of the game in the second.

Mitchell Backstrom went on a "coast to coast" run for his first of the year, and good things followed. Devon Casey had 4 goals in the frame and singles went to Ryan Hanna, Corey Shires, and Parker. Make the first two periods 8-4 and a 12-5 lead.

The third was a bit of a different story the men came out feeling pretty proud of their win but forgot there was another period to play. They allowed the Lakers to have some life giving up 2 short handled goals and 3 even strength markers but were backed up by timely saves by Riley Mangleson in net. He held the team in it while the Lakers tried to show some life but in the end the T-Men were just too strong for them. Third period scoring for Nanaimo were Casey with 3 tallies and Shires with one.

Make the final score T-Men 16 Lakers 10.
Weave your magic men. And thank you.

Good Things Turn Better
The Delta Islanders were in town for a game on Saturday at the Little Rink on 3rd. St. The T-Men floored a very depleted line up due to injuries but the 14 able runners and 2 keepers we a game ready crew. We spotted the Isles a two goal lead, then answered that with 3 of our own making the period end at 3-2 for the T-Men. The second frame was a wild one with both teams playing fast and loose on the defensive end of the floor. Nanaimo has to kill off a major penalty and managed to put 3 shorthanded and 6 even strength goals behind Delta's Bellamy in goal. the middle frame ended 12-8 for the home side.

Things tighten up in the 3rd. The play got a bit undialpined for the home team and the refs got into the act so the scoring slowed down and the short-man play picked up. I give the home bench big props for weathering the storm the legs were getting a bit heavy at that point but they preserved and got the 'W' in the end, final score T-Men 15, Islanders 12.

Corey Shires led the way for the home club with 4 goals and 3 assists, Mitch Parker had a hat-trick and 2 helpers, Ryan Nicks had 1 geno and 5 apples, Big games from Ryan Hanna 4 points. Tyson T-Roe, Karver Everson 3 points a piece and their transition game was great, other point getters for Nanaimo were Hayden Smith 2 goals, Adam Norman 1 goal, Devon Casey 1 and 2. The Defense and goaltending were the story Riley Mangleson was great between the pipes chipping in with timely saves and good outlets when the home-boys needed him to come up big he did.

GOOD WIN MEN!!

.500 Record
This weekend, we evened our record to .500 with wins over Richmond at home and Delta on the road.
Saturday, the Roadrunners visited the unfriendly confines of the Nanaimo Ice Centre and took on a T-men squad that was hungry to get into the win column after 2 one goal losses the previous week.
The Coastal Windows / Bedrock T-Men came out pumped and ready to play and set the pace with a 7-3 first period, followed by a 4-0 second, then taking their foot off the gas as they gave up a 3-1 third.
Making the final score 12-6. Top point getters for Nanaimo were 'Captain' Cory Koesdibyo with 7 points (1 goal and 6 assists) followed by Corey Shires with 2 and 4, and Devon Casey 3 and 1, Peter Dubenski went the distance in goal for the 'W'. Nanaimo's 'D' corp played a solid game as a whole.

Sunday the T-Men hit the road to Delta to visit the Islanders, typically a tough barn for the locals to play in and the game started out with a bang giving up a 3 - 0 run to the home side before the T-Men shook their sea-legs and started to claw back to make it 4-5 at the first break. The tables turned for the Islanders when Alex McDougall settled the home side down. And the score for the second was 3-4. Down by 2 the T-Men came out with a vengeance and ran the home side out of their own barn out scoring the home side 8-3 in the third making the final 15-12 Nanaimo.
Andrew Miller was dominant in the face-off circle and potted 3 goals and 1 assist. MacGregor Johnston turned in a solid game with 1 and 2, the transition game was the difference and Fitness Coach Vicki's wind sprints paid big in the third.
Great weekend men!!!!
